Thy Kingdom Come

World Day of Prayer comes from the inspiration that was given in the early 1900s to women across the world to pray for mission outreach. The inspiration for others to know the saving grace of Jesus Christ, is still the same today.

Thy Kingdom Come is a global prayer movement that invites Christians around the world to pray from Ascension to Pentecost for more people to come to know Jesus.

It started in May 2016 following a call to prayer by the Archbishops of Canterbury and York, now over 100 counties and 80 denominations take part.

During the 11 days of Thy Kingdom Come, it is hoped that everyone who takes part will:

• Deepen their own relationship with Jesus Christ
• Pray for 5 friends or family to come to faith in Jesus
• Pray for the empowerment of the Spirit that we would be effective in our witness

This year Thy Kingdom Come will be between 13th May and 23rd May.

From this year’s Thy Kingdom Come prayer resource, prayer stations, I have chosen the button prayer.

Hold five small buttons. Look at each one and remember one of the five people that you wish to come to know the love of God for themselves in Christ Jesus.

Pray – Gracious Father, I pray for ………………………………………., that you will bring them so close to you; and then please will you fasten them into your family the church and there let them grow. Amen.

Just as we are praying to have a closer contact with our five named people, we can share in two prayers from this year’s Together in Prayer.

God thank you for loving us, for extending to each one of your generous welcome. Thank you for giving each of as an important role as members of the body, connecting us as family, as community, around the world. Help us to work as community, offering radical hospitality to those who come into our church, into our homes, into our lives. In Christ’s name, and as his disciples we pray. Amen.

God our loving heavenly Father we praise and thank you for the full and free foundation you have given us in Jesus.

As we build upon the foundation some bricks will bring challenges, and others problems.

Throughout our lives to stay the same immovable Friend.

Great is your Faithfulness.    Amen
