World Day of Prayer

I know the plans I have for you

Please keep England, Wales & Northern Ireland in your prayers
“Thy Kingdom Come”

“Thy Kingdom Come”

World Day of Prayer is one of the greatest prayer movements across the world. “Thy Kingdom Come” is a prayer initiative that covers the time between Ascension and Pentecost.

Each year we are invited to join with tens of millions of Christians, around the world and across all denominations. Praying specifically for five people we know personally to come to know more of God’s love in Jesus Christ, and to pray that the Holy Spirit will empower us to boldly witness to them of the love, hope and salvation we enjoy.

Please list the 5 names you chose to pray for each day of ‘Thy kingdom come’.

This prayer is part of the commissioning service for Thy Kingdom Come

As we wait in silence,
make us ready for Your coming Spirit.

As we listen to Your word,
make us ready for Your coming Spirit.

As we worship You in majesty,
make us ready for Your coming Spirit.

As we long for Your refreshing,
make us ready for Your coming Spirit.

As we long for Your renewing,
make us ready for Your coming Spirit.

As we long for Your equipping,
make us ready for you coming Spirit

As we long for Your empowering
make us ready for Your coming Spirit

Almighty God, your ascended Son has sent us into the world to preach the good news of your kingdom: inspire us with your Spirit and fill our hearts with the fire of your love,
that all who hear your Word may be drawn to you,
through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen

A NEW SONG HAS BEEN COMMISSIONED FOR THIS YEAR

Songwriter Andy Flannagan says that ‘Not Made for the Harbour’, is a message for Christians in all kinds of roles, and his hope that it’ll inspire thousands to ask, ‘What is God calling me to in his world?’

The song starts with this chorus

We are not made for the harbour
We are made for the sea
Though at times it’s wild and cold and dark
It’s where we’re meant to be
You launch us out as a Father
Though we may be tossed about
But your presence in the storm
It walls us in and calls us out
