The love of God
The prayer for November is based on a hymn written by Vep Ellis, and Acts 3 3-6
When he saw Peter and John about to go into the temple, he asked them for alms. Peter looked intently at him, as did John, and said, ‘Look at us.’ And he fixed his attention on them, expecting to receive something from them. But Peter said, ‘I have no silver or gold, but what I have I give you; in the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, stand up and walk.’
Vep Ellis was one of the most prolific and beloved songwriters in Southern Gospel. He served as a Church of God minister for 49 years, and published more than 500 songs and hymns. In this song he guides our thoughts and prayers on the Love of God.
The love of God has been extended
To a fallen race
Through Christ the saviour of all men
There’s hope in saving grace
The love of God is greater far
Than gold or silver ever could afford
It reaches past the highest star
And covers all the world
It’s power is eternal, eternal
It’s glory is supernal, supernal
When all this earth shall pass away
There’ll always be the love of God.
