World Day of Prayer

I know the plans I have for you

Please keep England, Wales & Northern Ireland in your prayers
Risen Lord hear our prayer

Risen Lord hear our prayer

Risen Lord hear our prayer:

For the sorrowful and the sad like Mary, be the bringer of Joy;

For the heavy-hearted walkers like those on the Emmaus Road, be the bringer of Understanding;

For the fearful in the locked room, be the bringer of Confidence;

For the doubtful and unsure like Thomas, be the bringer of Assurance;

For those who have denied you like Peter, be the bringer of Forgiveness.

For those who are looking upward at the Ascension in anticipation, be the bringer of continued Faith.

For all of us who are following your call and reaching out to the world, we pray that we know your strength, peace and comfort.

Amen.

Reflective verses to use as Prayer Anchors

Mary
I come to the garden alone,
While the dew is still on the roses;
And the voice I hear, falling on my ear,
The Son of God discloses.

Charles Austin Miles 1868-1946

Emmaus Road
Be known to us in breaking bread,
but do not then depart;
Saviour, abide with us, and spread
your table in our heart.

James Montgomery 1771–1854

Thomas
Pensive, doubting, fearful heart, Hear what Christ the Saviour says;
Every word should joy impart, Change thy mourning into praise:
Yes, He speaks, and speaks to thee, May He help thee to believe!
Then thou presently wilt see, Thou hast little cause to grieve.

John Newton 1725-1807

Peter
I heard the voice of Jesus say,
“I am this dark world’s light.
Look unto me; your morn shall rise
and all your day be bright.”
I looked to Jesus, and I found
in him my star, my sun;
and in that light of life I’ll walk
till trav’ling days are done.

Horatius Bonar 1808-1889
