World Day of Prayer

I made you wonderful

God of compassion

When you took upon yourself the nature of man and lived among us, you demonstrated a radical love that disturbed people then and continues to disturb people today.
Love that is all-embracing and non-judgemental.
Love that finds its expression in service to others, can be difficult for people to understand in our divided world, where so many inequalities and injustices abound, leading to resentment and even hatred.

Open our hearts that we may recognise the inherent dignity of all who are made in your image and likeness, seeing them as you see them – as beloved children needing support and encouragement as they seek to find a place in this world.
May every word and action of ours be a joyful sign of your love.

Bless us, that we may be a blessing to others. Amen.

Our Father in Heaven, Immanuel!

Fill us with Your Heavenly peace in this special time of the year. Help us to trust in Your promises and grow our faith, bringing all our worries to You so we can experience peace above all understanding.

We lift to You all those who are grieving from loss of a loved one, those suffering from broken relationships, loneliness, addiction, or financial stress. Those who are sick, hungry or homeless. All people who feel hopeless where everyone is expected to feel happy and joyful.

Lord, draw them close to You, comfort them and let them experience the Christmas Spirit and hope that comes from Your loving presence.

Fulfil them with Your Grace and help them to know the joy and peace of an eternal relationship with You. Amen

Matthew 1:22-23
All this took place to fulfil what the Lord had said through the prophet: “The virgin will conceive and give birth to a Son, and they will call Him Immanuel,” which means, “God with us.”

Loving Lord,
Help us to love one another as you love us.
Give us the patience and perseverance to bear with one another in love.
Make us willing to listen to other people’s points of view and help us to be more understanding of their needs.
Help us to be united in love.

Dear Lord
Grant us oneness of heart to love one another without regret as we reach out in love to all we meet wherever we happen to be in your world.
For Christ’s sake, Amen.
