There are Prayers for Ukraine across all our social media, and as the situation changes between Ukraine, Russia and the whole of Europe our prayers will be updated to reflect the rapidly changing situation.
The Prayers for March are Lenten Prayers.
Mathew 3 v 16 As soon as Jesus was baptized, he went up out of the water. At that moment heaven was opened, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and alighting on him.
O God at the moment of Jesus Christ’s Baptism you blessed him with your spirit descending upon him as a meek bird, the sort of bird that the poorest of the poor could afford to offer as a sacrifice. The dove with wings full of peace and hope, like the dove who returned to Noah after six straight weeks of unrelenting rain, with a sprig of olive in her beak, extending the hope of life once again.
You anointed Jesus Christ for a ministry not of royal power or military might, but of humility, hope, purity, peace. Anoint us with those same gifts, preparing the way for hope and peace.
In the name of Jesus Christ, we pray, Amen.
Matthew 4 v 1 Then Jesus was led by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil.
Dear Heavenly God we have prayed many times “lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil”
Help us to take every tempting thought captive and hand it over to You before it takes a hold of us and does harm to anyone.
Help us in our weakness to know You as our strength, and help us in our foolishness to know You as our wisdom.
Help us we pray, to resist all forms of temptation and give us the strength to say no and walk away from temptation, especially when there are others involved, who directly or indirectly, willingly or unknowingly, are encouraging our downfall.
Deliver us Lord we pray, from habits that are entrapping and enslaving us in actions that are detrimental to our spiritual health and walk.
Hear this prayer and strengthen us for our walk-through life with You. Amen.
Matthew 4 v 2 After fasting forty days and forty nights, he was hungry.
Through the forty days of Lent, we can meditate on this Blessing by Martin Luther, 1483-1546
O God the Father, graciously give us all that we need for body and soul.
O Son of God, deliver us from sin, be gracious to us, and give us your Spirit.
O God, Holy Spirit, heal, comfort and strengthen us against the devil, and give us endless victory and resurrection from death. Amen.
