Easter and Beyond

Christ is Risen! Alleluia!

Mary Magdalene went to the disciples with the news “I have seen the Lord!” and she told them that he had said these things to her. John 20:18

Jesus of the Easter garden, who brought joy to Mary’s weeping face, we pray for joy for the world.

Jesus of the Emmaus road, who opened the Scriptures to disciples as they walked home, we pray for your word to be opened to us.

Jesus of the locked room, who calmed the disciple’s fears, we pray that we can help dispel fear from others.

Jesus of the breakfast beach, who gave both sustaining food and challenging commands, we pray we can help both body and soul wherever in the world you call us to work.

We pray to you our Risen God and King, Master and Friend, who we worship, praise and adore. To you who has had the knowledge of sadness, fears, doubts, insecurities, has known denial and rejection, and the feelings of complete loss, and who was able to overcome death and to show us eternal life, hear our prayers. Help us to overcome the challenges of life. We pray for your strength and for the gift of Easter joy to carry us through the coming months. Lord we pray that in the knowledge of your saving grace we can put aside our sadness’s, fears, insecurities, doubts and denials, and feelings of rejection and loss, as we are strengthened by your love. Amen

Alleluia! He is risen!
And all the world rejoices
and with angels sing his praises
with grateful hearts and voices.
For his glorious resurrection
has conquered death and strife
and given us the promise of everlasting life.

Going forward: Jesus’ command and promise

“Repentance for the forgiveness of sins will be preached in my name to all nations, beginning at Jerusalem. You are witnesses of these things. I am going to send you what my Father has promised; but stay in the city until you have been clothed with power from on high.” Luke 24:47-49
