We are planning the Y-Pray? 2023 weekend – 28 to 30 April. The venue will be: The Hayes Conference Centre, Swanwick, Derbyshire, DE55 1AU.
Our weekend was once again a really fantastic gathering, intimate, spiritual, and a blessed time together.
Zoom Y-PRAY? 2021
Our first Y-Pray? Zoom session, on 1 May 2021, was a great success attended by 33 women and 1 man, our entertainer’s pianist Bobby.
The morning was a great mixture of worship with Helen Pollard and talks from Laura Hewitt, a time of reflection and sharing. The entertainment provided by Anna Nicholson was great fun.
Laura spoke on the 2022 WDP service theme for EWNI
“I know the plans I have for you” Jeremiah 29:1-14.
Some comments from the morning included – thought-provoking, fantastic, just amazing, wonderful.
Comments from Y-PRAY? 2019
I attended the 2018 Y-Pray? and I am glad to say I had an amazing and lovely time meeting, learning from, having fellowship and relaxing with other women from all walks of life. Listening and sharing our experiences in life was very moving and inspiring. The speakers from both years were great and their messages have encouraged me not give up and keep on helping people and changing lives in every little way I can. Even though we had all come from different Christian backgrounds and denominations we felt we needed time from our everyday lives to relax, reflect and revive our faith and our journeys with Christ. Last year’s theme was ‘Come, everything is ready’ which inspired me to write this prayer:
In a world where we are so involved with our own lives, help us Father to see those in need and share the bread you give us.As you invite us to come and dine with you, may we also extend the invitation to others without hesitation, fear or discrimination. May your light and love shine through all of us as we dine with you. Amen.
2019’s theme was ‘Rise, take your mat and walk!’ I learnt a new song at this year’s conference which made me connect so well with the theme – it’s by Hillsong titled STILL. ‘When the oceans rise and thunders roar, I will soar with you above the storm’ is my favourite part of the song. It reassures me that through the ups and especially the downs of life, the Lord is always with me.
I would like to extend my sincere gratitude to the Methodist Women in Britain for providing bursaries to attend the Y-Pray conference. God bless you all. I hope to attend the next one and hopefully take another person (or maybe 2) with me.
2019 Y Pray? was the first time participating and it was through word by a dear friend that I came to know about the World Day of Prayer movement. It immediately triggered my interest because I imagined how beautiful it would have been to meet other women of faith collaborating, praying, working and having a good time together. I also felt that I needed a moment of retreat in my life where I could just pause and reflect, a moment of quietness and stillness far different and away from my daily “busy” life schedule.
The WDP Y-Pray? met all my expectations and even more. We prayed, sang, did fun workshops such as composing poems and creating handmade accessories to take back home and ate together as our Father taught us to. We were women belonging to different churches, from different age groups and different experiences but it didn’t matter because at the end we all felt at peace within ourselves and in a safe, non-judgmental environment where we could share our own stories and listen to other people’s stories and be in awe of God’s love and the beauty in the diversity of His creation. It was a beautiful experience that I will gladly share and hopefully get other women to experience too in the future.
