Messy Church

Messy Church is part of BRF’s commitment to enable Christ Centred opportunities for families and people of all ages to explore faith, based on the values of hospitality, creativity and celebration.

Many churches of all denominations around England Wales and Northern Ireland have been successfully nurturing and discipling people using this fresh expression of Church for over 21 years.

What a great way then, to introduce new generations of people to World Day of Prayer and engage them in informed prayer and prayerful action.

WDP EWNI have been collaborating with the Messy Church Team to create a service based on the 2026 WDP material written by the Christian Women in Nigeria.

You’ll find the scripture and directions for everything you need to unpack the theme ‘I will give you rest, come‘ in thoughtful and creative ways and if you already have a Messy Church Team, then simply pass the resource along and ask if you can help.

Food can play a big part in Messy Church so the offer of a fabulous stew or some lovely Nigerian Butter Biscuits would be very warmly received I’m sure.

Or perhaps another local church runs a Messy Church expression – can you pop along and encourage them to prepare a WDP Service with the support of your Branch?

And, don’t worry, this Messy Church service does not need to happen on Friday 6 March, it can happen any time next year, adding to the wave of prayer as and when.

Simply, we’d love to encourage more people of all ages to engage in informed prayer and prayerful action and we think that this is a fantastic way to start.
