Zambuko raJehova Trust

Market Gardening Project (ZRT): One of our Development Grant grant recipients, Zambuko raJehova Trust, has initiated a tomato market gardening project aimed at improving food security, creating income-generating opportunities and building agricultural capacity within their community. The project is centred around sustainable practices using greenhouse and drip irrigation technology; greenhouse and irrigation systems are now fully operational.

Two local workers (1 male,1 female) are employed to maintain the site, while local volunteers are engaged in farm care, gaining hands-on experience. They are regularly trained in horticultural practices. A local marketing plan is being developed to distribute, produce and reinvest profits.

We are delighted to share some of the Trust’s photos. The tomato plants are fruiting well, with an average of 20–30 fruits per plant, each around 5 cm in diameter – they are now ready for harvesting and selling.
