World Day of Prayer

I beg you, bear with one another in love

The Word for the world

We are pleased to share part of a feedback report from Steve Lancaster UK Director for TWFTW:

During the past year, thanks to trusts like yours, the UK Support Base has been able to support Bible translation and literacy projects in Myanmar, Malawi, Zambia, Namibia, Uganda, & Vietnam, plus Albania in eastern Europe. You may remember that in our application (July 23) we were seeking funding to help towards the cost of our Bible translation project amongst the Nkangala people of Zambia.

Although Zambia is officially a Christian country with a high proportion of Christians, there are still languages in Zambia that don’t have any of the Scriptures. TWFTW is involved in five projects in the country, one of which is among the Nkangala people group. Translation work on the New Testament is ongoing, with 71% of translation completed by our team of translators. They are aiming to complete this NT translation by October 2024.

The good news is that since we made our application in July, our translating team have been busy with their continued translation work, and have now completed 90% of the New Testament in the Nkangala language. The hope is that they will complete the draft by the end of this year, with publication hopefully happening in early 2025. Your contribution went towards supporting this project, particularly in the areas of translators salaries, a laptop, and community checking of the draft script.

So – once again, I would like to say a big ‘thank you’ to the trustees of WDP for your generous contribution, and for helping to support this valuable work in Zambia, as well as enabling the team there to make progress in translating God’s Word.

And because you were a new donor in 2023, we have been able to claim match funding from another donor, which means that your £1000 became £2000! A double blessing indeed! The photos below feature some of the people that you have been able to help. Thank you.
