Kids Alive International
Kids Alive International used to be called Hope For Kids International.
In Guatemala there are two projects where havens of safety are provided for teenage girls (and younger), who are victims of sexual violence, usually in their own home.
These girls are referred by local courts and arrive under court protection. They are always traumatised and emotionally damaged. Treatment includes trauma counselling, lots of prayer and love from ‘house mums’.
The charity works closely with local courts and solicitors to ensure justice is served on perpetrators and that girls are given legal protection. Most girls stay in the care of this charity for between 12 and 18 months, after which they are found good homes, usually through local churches.
