Uniting in Prayer

Each week during these difficult times, we will post an item of interest and a prayer to incorporate into our personal prayer times, which we offer you, too. Some branches have already set-up this project, which we on the National Committee think highly commendable (which is why we have adopted it here!) We believe it is beneficial to pray-ers to know that many are praying into the same items at the same time each day. So, with that in mind, how about the hour between 9 – 10 a.m.  Of course, we can pray for the whole hour or for whatever time span works for us on that day – we do not want to be legalistic about this. Let’s take a little time to bring our thoughts to God and ask Him to have his way here on earth. We trust you will find this project interesting and fulfilling as we go forward together in prayer. Thank you.

Our Father in heaven, we are so grateful that you have promised ‘I WILL ALWAYS BE WITH YOU AND WILL NEVER LEAVE YOU’. We are so grateful that You have proved Yourself faithful and true. You are our Rock in Whom we have every reason to trust and we will have NO FEAR.

Now, we give thanks for all those working in the health service, the police and for the millions of key workers who restock supermarket shelves, collect bins or drive buses. We all depend on them to do their work. We pray for them and for those in local and national Government, our Queen, and for our Prime Minister, Boris Johnson. As we do so, we remember the words of Abraham Kuyper, “There is not a square inch in the whole domain of our human existence over which Christ, who is Sovereign over all, does not cry, Mine!” (Abraham Kuyper, theologian and Dutch Prime Minister 1901-1905.)

Father, we also pray for our sisters in Albania and around the world – Lord, may they KNOW your Presence in these desperate times, and may Your church throughout the world, rise up and take its rightful place – at the head and not the tail. Come, Lord Jesus.
